Sustainable Special Events Company Launches San Francisco Bay Area Office
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., September 4th, 2007 – Twirl Management opened its San Francisco Bay Area office today in the city's Mission District. With a focus on sustainability and community benefit, Twirl Management examines the infrastructure of how events are produced, working to minimize waste, localize production and services and reduce the overall negative environmental impact of the event – while increasing the value impact of the event..
As owner Johanna Walsh describes, "We do not produce events that are about being 'green' or 'sustainable'. We specialize in efficiently shaping an event to use eco-friendly tools and resources that are appropriate for that event's intended impact. In other words, we smartly 'green' an event."
Twirl Management offers complete special event planning and management services for an array of clients looking to host events that align with either a company's environmental sustainability objectives – or within an individual's personal conservation philosophies. Twirl has coordinated 100% recycled material photo installation for Confluent Entertainment, provided "waste free" lunches for Noll & Tam Architects, supplied locally grown and prepared food for Intermune Pharmaceuticals as well as numerous low impact events for private clients. Twirl is presently working with San Jose's Japantown Business Association to develop solutions to green their public street festivals.
They examine all of the components of event production and develop options for reducing energy consumption while maintaining professional production values. They consider elements such as vendor / participant travel to and from the event, energy consumption, food production sources, waste management, promotional materials, shipping needs, and by-product recycling. Twirl Management calculates the overall environmental impact of your event and provides alternatives that can be implemented immediately or phased in over time.
"Being a good steward of our planet is systemic; it may start with our recycling habits, the cars we drive, and the products we buy and re-use. Our philosophy is that responsible conservationism must happen in the arenas where we congregate together as well. In order to help slow-down the effects of Global Warming and begin to reverse them, businesses need to re-examine the infrastructure of their events as part of their overall sustainability programs," explains Walsh. "Twirl, by continuing to support the intended message of the event while greening it, also helps to educate the end-user in how being environmentally conscious doesn't have to alter their experience. It can look, feel, smell and taste the same way... it will also be environmentally responsible."
Twirl Management plans to expand with an additional office in New York in 2008. The company currently has an office in San Jose, California.
Twirl Management is a division of Rose Walsh Media, Inc., a company that produces environments for interaction with efficiency and sustainability at its core.
